Mechplant - Komatsu dealer partnership boosted in £330,000 telehandler deal 08/03/2007
Mechplant (North East) has confirmed its position as the largest dealer of Telescopic Handlers for Komatsu in the UK with an order to supply eight new machines to a house builder in the region.
Valued at over £330,000, the order includes six Komatsu WH613 and two Komatsu WH716 Telescopic Handlers. The machines are the largest in a brand new generation of telehandlers from Komatsu and some of the first in the country to be delivered.
Mechplant service technicians were involved in field trials for the new telehandlers and, during visits to the manufacturing plant in Italy, contributed to refinements resulting in improved handling operation and service access for operators and mechanics alike.
Commenting on the deal Mechplant Director, Stephen Mackinson, said;
‘We’re very proud to make this announcement – for many reasons. At £330,000 it’s a significant deal for us – we are just about to post turnover of £2m for the last financial year and so this gives us a great start for the next. We are big fans of Komatsu – our customers like the kit – it’s reliable, safe and efficient and these machines set new standards. We enjoy a great relationship with Marubeni-Komatsu – we work together as a team.'
Richard Williams, National Manager of Marubeni Komatsu continued;
‘Marubeni-Komatsu is delighted with Mechplant's order and are sure that the customer will appreciate the undoubted benefits of the Komatsu Telescopic Handlers; chief amongst which, is the super low slung boom - allowing the operator superb all round visibility during handling operations. According to the Health and Safety Executive, restricted visibility is one of the primary causes of fatal accidents on construction sites, so this new generation of Komatsu machines sets a new safety standard for the industry.’
The WH series machines are also enabled to receive the Komatsu Man Platform which is a revolutionary means of enabling operators to work at height without the need for harnessing, scaffolding or temporary telehandler cradles. The Man Platform control system is operated from within the basket thus allowing operator autonomy. As falling from heights is another common cause of fatalities in the construction industry this facility is expected to be widely taken up as and when legislation is introduced.
