St Austell based company, DRS Demolition, recently made a significant investment with Marubeni-Komatsu, purchasing 7 Komatsu machines. The pride of the DRS fleet, owned by Dave Shrigley, is a PC450LCD-7 high reach demolition specification excavator, which is to be used in a project to demolish one of Newquay’s former hotels.

The 68 tonne excavator, fitted with a 23 metre boom was driven through Newquay earlier last week to the Bredon Court Hotel site at Tower Road, ready for redevelopment into residential apartments and town houses.

DRS plant manager Nick Southall commented: “Due to a heavy workload, DRS Demolition National has recently purchased the Komatsu PC450LCD-7 demolition specification high reach excavator which is unique in the Cornwall area.

“The Komatsu is a state-of-the-art piece of demolition machinery capable of a reach up to 27 meters.”

The remaining machines, a further PC450LCD-7, a PC450HRD-7, a PC130-7 and 3 PC210-8’s are a valuable addition to DRS Demolition’s impressive fleet.
