Komatsu's roaring rippershank bulldozer
28/11/2005

Patersons of Greenoakhill have been exercising their new D375 Komatsu Bulldozer in Scotland, at their silica sand quarry. The model is one of the first of its kind to be supplied by Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd to Scotland and is fully equipped with an interchangeable 475 Rippershank and traction-control system.

Every aspect of the bulldozer is manufactured to the highest quality, to ensure optimum reliability and flexibility in harsh conditions. The hexagonal shaped cab creates a spacious interior, which not only increases the comfort level for the operator but also enables greater visibility. In addition, the extra-low machine profile encourages stability and balance even on unstable ground.

Ease of operation is made possible by the recently developed Palm Command Control System and the Electronic Controlled Modulation Valve, which gives smoother steering and better handling of the clutch and brakes. Although highly powerful, the D375 Bulldozer remains eco-friendly, with the engine meeting Tier II emissions regulations. Komatsu has also installed a lock-up torque converter for greater productivity and improved fuel consumption.

A special feature of the D375 requested by Patersons is the 475 larger, heavier rippershank, which allows increased durability and ripping force, whilst maintaining good traction - characteristic to Komatsu machines and superior to those of competitors. Increased traction control allows the Bulldozer to provide greater ripper penetration force even when the rear of the machine is raised as the ground contact point of the front tracks does not shift. The length of track on the ground does not alter during ripper work, so the machine can provide superior traction force.

Tom Paterson, of Patersons of Greenoakhill says: “The D375 bulldozer has met our expectations, in terms of ripping and dozer performance, we also have faith in the commitment provided by Marubeni-Komatsu in ensuring optimum performance over the lifetime of the machine.”
