£3.5m order for Moxy ADT's from Hawk Plant 08/08/2002
Hawk Plant of Wem in Shropshire has recently taken delivery of the first batch of Moxy MT40B Series II articulated dump trucks to be supplied in the UK by Marubeni-Komatsu.
Ten of the 40 ton payload machines have been ordered, along with eight MT31 and two MT26 models, a total fleet representing an investment of some £3.5M.
The MT40B Series II is powered by a Scania V8 turbocharged diesel engine developing a massive 330 kW (448 hp) @ 2200 rpm driving all six wheels via an up-graded ZF electronically controlled automatic transmission.
Moxy was the first ADT manufacturer to produce a rounded style model with the introduction of the MT36 in 1997. Now, with the launch of the MT40B featuring the latest sloping bonnet design, the line-up is complete.
The new model features 25% larger bearings in both the tandem housing and articulation hinge and a full auto-lube system is fitted as standard, ensuring a constant supply of grease to all critical bearings.
Also new is an automatic control system for the exhaust brake and transmission retarder which eliminates the possibility of over-speeding the engine, a more effective air conditioner and a set of highly effective working lights mounted on top of the spacious cab.
Commenting on the order, Mike Hawkins, chairman of the Hawk Group, said: "We operate one of the largest fleets of ADT's in the country and have been using Moxy trucks since 1979. I have experienced many changes in the Moxy product over the years but feel very confident about the performance and operator acceptability of the latest range of trucks which furthers my confidence in the future of the company".
