New Dash 7 Komatsu wheeled excavators raise the benchmarks

Komatsu has introduced two new-model wheeled excavators that have raised several of the industry’s highest standards for state-of-the-art wheeled excavator design and functionality.  Both models are the result of several years of intensive and targeted field research, competitive testing and benchmarking, design and engineering, and virtual and intensive prototype testing.  They’re designed and built in Europe for all European markets.

The new models PW200-7 and PW220-7, with operating weights of 20 and 22 tonnes respectively, complete Komatsu’s offering of wheeled excavators in this class.  Ranging from 13 to 22 tonnes, Komatsu now offers the models PW-130-6, PW150-6, PW170-6, PW200-7 and PW220-7.

The PW200-7 is equipped with standard-sized 2.55 metre axles and 2.55 metre wide chassis attachments. It can be optionally configured to have the same standard widths as the PW220-7: 2.75 metre axles and 2.75 metre chassis attachments.  The PW220 can also be configured for increased lifting capacity and stability by means of an optional heavier counterweight.  Both machines have a 6-cylinder 118kW/158 horsepower Komatsu engine that provides exceptional hydraulic power and fuel economy.

From an operator’s perspective, these new machines feel like they’ve been tailor-built just for them.  The new, 14% larger SpaceCab™ creates the ultimate, roomy work environment.  It’s moved slightly forward to give a better view of the external work area.  The seat design is unique - built expressly for operating and driving conditions that are only experienced in wheeled excavators.  The cab is exceptionally quiet thanks to reduced engine and swing hydraulics noise, and the improved viscous cab damper mounting.  And the operator will breathe easier with the standard-equipped air conditioner, air filter, and higher internal pressure that efficiently resists the entry of dust into the cab.

Mobility is a significant factor with Komatsu’s new Dash 7 wheeled excavators.  Both new models have high ground clearance, powerful drawbar pull and automatic, three-speed travel. With a top speed of 35 km/h, they’re now positioned well out in front, as the fastest-moving machines in their class.  They’re also exceptionally friendly to the environment, with their low fuel consumption and compliance with EC stage II emission regulations.  With a low operating noise, they’re perfectly suited for works in densely urban and residential areas.

These new Dash 7s have Komatsu’s Equipment Management and Monitoring System (EMMS).  It helps the operator to control and monitor all of the machine’s vital and operating conditions, placing a broad range of functions, working modes and operating information directly at the operator’s fingertips. These machines are “all Komatsu”, providing the most advanced levels of sophistication, productivity, operating economy and operator comforts in a rugged, durable package. They’ve been test-proven to stand up against the most demanding work environments that Europe has to offer.
