City Demolition purchase Komatsu for the first time 28/02/2008
Working on a number of large and high-profile contracts, Birmingham based City Demolition has switched manufacturer to Komatsu, purchasing 2 x Komatsu PC290LCD-8 crawler excavators and 1 x PC210LC-8.
The latest purchases from Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd have joined their existing line up and strengthens their fleet of 1.5 – 32 tonne machines.
City Demolition has been around since 1988, covering the Midlands and surrounding areas. The company is proud to have a long list of clients and a number of high-profile projects on their books. With a team of over 60 employees, City Demolition strives to provide their customers with a service which is exactly right for their needs.
In addition to working with the local authorities and private developers in the UK’s 2nd largest city, which has a population of over 1 million, City Demolition are involved with the regeneration of areas in Birmingham and nationwide, creating homes, jobs and benefiting business in general.
Due to the nature of the company, the new Komatsu machines have been fitted with cylinder ram guards, cab guards, extra lights and safety cameras, ensuring the machine and the operator is well protected in its application.
Doing their bit for the environment
City Demolition operates a recycling policy which means all waste materials are considered for secondary use. It is transported to local waste transfer stations where it disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way.
With a replacement policy of 3 years, only the latest, most-up-to-date machines are used for City Demolition’s projects.
All machines in the latest purchase have the newly developed Komatsu ECOT3 engine which significantly reduces hourly fuel consumption. Features to promote energy saving operations such as variable Economy mode and Eco-gauge are also standard and both engines meet EPA Tier III and EU Stage IIIA emissions regulations.
Machine monitoring and tracking system
Komtrax, the machine monitoring and tracking system exclusive to Komatsu, allows the exact location of the machine to be monitored at all times and provides real time machine data, which flags service meter readings (SMR’s), cautions and working records. The PC210LC-8 and PC290LC-8 machines are fitted with Komtrax and will assist City Demolition now and in the future.
Managing Director, Mark Doyle comments:
“I’m extremely happy with the way Marubeni-Komatsu has fulfilled our requirements; we have high-spec demolition machines which are capable of carrying out all aspects of demolition and site clearance efficiently. The proof will be in the pudding!”
