L Lynch clinch short tail swing from Marubeni-Komatsu
05/10/2007

Since 1980, L Lynch Plant Hire has been supplying the UK’s civil engineering, rail and utility sectors with a large range of construction machinery.

Their latest purchase from Marubeni-Komatsu are their first ever Komatsu machines, comprising of PC228USLC-3 and PC290LC-8 hydraulic excavators. The machines will join their existing fleet, ranging from 0.75t excavators to 10t dump trucks, attachments and sorting grabs.

The PC228USLC-3 is designed to deliver outstanding performance, exceptional reliability and most importantly, safety features that are second to none.   The machine boasts a short rear tail swing, which means that it can work in areas where conventional profile excavators would pose a safety risk. The Komatsu’s round profile design allows the machine to work in limited space, and with protrusion from the track of only 280mm, it reduces the risk of a contact at swing accident.

The PC228USLC-3 only occupies a road width of 3.99m or less, so is perfect for work on either lane without having to close off the entire road.

Robert Lynch, Sales Director of L Lynch Plant Hire, operates 3 sites in the midlands and south west of the UK and talks about his reasons for the purchase:

“We are regularly replacing our machines as part of our ‘Equipment Renewal Programme’, which ensures that our customers only receive the latest, modern equipment. However, the Komatsu PC228USLC-3 can be used in much more confined areas due to the short rear tail swing feature.

This, coupled with Komatsu’s reputation for excellent performance is why we’ve made our first investment in their product.”

The PC228USLC-3 also has excellent ecology and economy features, extended hydraulic filter replacement intervals and easy maintenance features and a large, low-noise, comfortable cab.
