New Equipment : Dash-8 Excavators

New low noise operation

NEW low noise engines - quieter than an average passenger car

It is a well documented fact that the more comfortable and relaxed an operator is, the more efficiently and productively he (or she) works. Obviously in equipment such as excavators, noise levels play a big part in operator comfort.

Once again, the new Dash 8 has been specifically designed to make life quieter and more comfortable - and therefore more efficient and more productive for the operator! It has been recorded as having an average interior noise level of 69.0dB when actively working in P mode.

This is actually quieter than an average passenger saloon car travelling at 50mph which would normally have an interior level of 69.3dB.

Particular attention was paid by Komatsu in reducing noise output of the new Komatsu SAA6D107E-1 engine. The engine block is fitted with a low-noise muffler and additional insulation in order to keep noise levels to an absolute minimum.

  • Low noise muffler with added sound insulation
  • Reduced fan speed
  • Large capacity radiator
  • Quiet air conditioning system
  • Advanced common rail fuel injection
  • Increased use of sound absorbing materials.

Additional cab sound-proofing and the use
of silicon oil-filled cab dampers reduce noise
levels for the operator.
